This is sort of a part two to the last 🧵 This focus will be a continuation of KYP (know your personnel) and slide into KYR, Know Your Role (I know it's not an acronym, but I just wanna keep this going, so let me live. I spoke about in the last where Jordan was being played majority of the year as SG, a position he can absolutely play but he thrives more as PG. If you neglected to KYP then it leaves the team in the situation where players probably don't KTR. In basketball, other sports, and jobs in general, everybody has a role they play in order for the team/company to be successful.

When players are showing up with no real direction for themselves and as a team, we get a lot of what we saw and on the court a lot this year. There were definitely flashes of what could be but then without structure things will fall apart. It brings me to a term l've heard a lot lately, positionless basketball. In my opinion I think that's a horrible idea, mostly. Now some of it is beneficial, I think it is important to be able to do more than thing. The last thing you want to do on the court and and in life is to only have one skill. This also references back to strength and weaknesses.

I think it's important to always have an open mind when it comes to growth and development, as a player and a person. You should never feel like you've done enough and it's impossible to improve at all. Specifically to Jordan, he has a tremendous amount of skills. I'm not being biased because he's my favorite player, I'm being honest. Someone can be my favorite player, but l also can speak very real about them. (It's not what you say, but how you say it, you can Absolutely criticize someone in a respectful manner and in a way that is meant to help a person grow.) I'll just bring up a couple because this thread could be 30 parts, these are not in order just some of my favorite aspects of his game that l think he excels at.

Quickness, something that has always stood out to me in his game, he can literally beat you down the court, a few games ago, he made it across court and got the basket in like 3.5 seconds. A couple games before that he got to his spot and shot the three so quick the camera didn't catch anything but the ball soaring through the air, and going through the net. Handles, that man will have you sliding across the court like it's a slip and slide, I mean, it is a Poole Party so rightfully so. Playmaking, we haven't got a ton of PG Poole this year but the improvement in his ability to be able to read the floor, make a quick decision if he needs to make a play for himself, or get his teammates involved. The crazy passes that bring you to your feet because you didn't know if it was gonna make it to his teammate but somehow it did.

Now let's say because it's positionless basketball he decided he felt like being a forward mid game so he randomly switched. Dramatic example, I know. I'm a huge believer of the quote "jack of all trades master of none." | do feel like you should have multiple skills in the game but I thinkthat it is important you master your specialty and add the other skills as supplemental. For example, Jordan doing those three things I spoke of on top of him playing defense. He can absolutely play good defense, we don't need a PG to be DPOY as well. I see a lot of favs who

Pick and choose which PG they feel like need to be a top level defender. Social media is nuts, so l only really value sports conversations from certain people. The role of a PG has it's own responsibilities just like every role and most of your energy should be on your role. That goes back to KYP and how you are creating your lineups, after all basketball is a team sport so one person should not be doing everything. Everybody should know their role, supplement some of the other qualities and be able to help each other.

In this presser Jordan spoke on a few things that I think has been the reason for the improvement since ASW. Pace, this team plays better in transition, back to his quickness, Jordan running the offense pushes pace. Reads/plays, Jordan's ability to make quick decisions in transition benefits the team. Everyone knowing their role and also all of them learning each other and their habits. It creates more connectivity, to a point where you already know where your teammate is going before they get there so you're able have the pass meet them at the perfect time.

Repetition, the more you're doing something, the more comfortable you become, the more it becomes second nature. Games will not be perfect and there will be mistakes made, but just in the short amount of time that Jordan has been PG (1st & 2nd unit) there has been so much growth Repetition, the more you're doing something, the more comfortable you become, the more it becomes second nature.

Games will not be perfect and there will be mistakes made, but just in the short amount of time that Jordan has been PG (1st & 2nd unit) there has been so much growth I have seen from him as well as the team. I've actually seen more cohesiveness between the players on the court. I think it stems from everyone knowing their roles, feeling confident in it and doing what's best for the team to win games. That starts from the leader(s) of the team and the leader out there on the floor, Mr. Poole Party himself. This year has not been easy but.. James 1:12. "Blessed is the man who preserves under trial"
